The new education policy(NEP) 2020 has been announced by the Government of India and most probably it will be passed by the Parliament in the form of Higher Education Commission of India Bill in the form of the HECI Act 2020. The NEP will facilitate foreign universities to set up campuses in India and get rid India of existing red tape and inspector raj in higher education regulation. The main points of emphasis of NEP are : 1. Schooling is to be reorganized into a 5+3+3+4 format. 2. Expenditure of education will be raised to 6% of the GDP. 3. It will shut down the existing Teacher Education Institutions throughout the country and instead teacher education will be made into a four-year degree in our multidisciplinary institutions. 4. The National Curricular Framework(NCF) to be developed by 2021 aiming at reducing the curriculum burden on the student. 5.
